Madison, Wisconsin (September 17, 2020) – Senator Chris Kapenga (R-Delafield) was presented with the “Friend of Grocers” Award today from the Wisconsin Grocers Association. The award was presented at Sendik’s Food Market in Waukesha. The “Friend of Grocers” award is given to legislators who score highly on the WGA’s Legislative Report Card – an extensive study of all legislators’ performance in the 2019-2020 Legislative Session. Lawmakers are graded according to their actions on certain issues that are especially important to the grocery industry, including: alcohol pickup and delivery, personal property tax repeal and several other key business issues.

This is the fifth Friend of Grocers Award Senator Kapenga has received. “Senator Kapenga has received a Friend of Grocers Award for every term he has served in the Legislature—both during his time in the Assembly and in the Senate,” said Brandon Scholz, WGA President & CEO. “That is testament to Senator Kapenga’s unwavering support of small businesses and the retail food industry.” The award was presented to Sen. Kapenga by Brandon Scholz and Ted Balistreri, co-owner of Sendik’s Food Markets.
