Welcome to my e-update!

My name is Brad Pfaff, and I am proud to represent you as State Senator for the 32nd District in the Wisconsin State Senate.

Our district includes La Crosse, Vernon, Crawford, and southern Monroe County.

In January, I took an oath at the State Capitol and made a promise to work hard for the people of Western Wisconsin. I fully intend to keep my promise and show up every day.

This newsletter helps me keep in touch with all of you and provides updates on what's happening around the district and in the State Capitol.

Around the District

Ribbon cutting for the grand re-opening of the Cheese Corner in Viroqua.

Cheese Corner is back in Viroqua

Delicious Cheese Corner subs, platters, and wraps made with specialty meats and cheeses are back in Viroqua.

I joined a group of board members, local leaders, and cheeseheads to help kick off the grand re-opening. Thank you VARC, Inc. for bringing back this local staple!

Column: Mental Health Resources Save Lives

September was National Suicide Prevention Month and National Recovery Month, and it’s critical we take both of these issues seriously. I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to learn about the resources available to prevent suicide and promote recovery.

Chaseburg Sole Burner Celebrates Local Advocate

I was proud to help congratulate Linda DeGarmo on earning the St. George National Award from the American Cancer Society by presenting her with a legislative citation and a flag flown over the Capitol. This award recognizes outstanding community volunteers for their distinguished service to ACS.

Linda has played a key role in facilitating an incredible community of cancer survivors, family members, and advocates in Chaseburg. Using her lived experiences, Linda has benefitted so many community members going through hardships through fundraising, encouragement, and awareness.

I adjourned a recent session of the Wisconsin State Senate in her honor.

National 4-H Week

Despite the pandemic, our county 4-H programs are holding strong, and they’re celebrating the 80th National 4-H week during Oct. 3-9.

As a former 4Her myself, I can attest to the personal and professional development the organization provides. Anyone in grades K-12 can join 4-H. If you’re interested in learning more, visit 4h.extension.wisc.edu for more information.

Introducing the "Invest in Agriculture, Grow our Future" bill package with Governor Evers at the World Dairy Expo.

Capitol Update

World Dairy Expo is a Hit

Dairy enthusiasts had a little extra pep in their step at the World Dairy Expo after a year away! I took a tour around the campus, saw best-in-class dairy cattle, and held a press conference on my exciting new proposals for Wisconsin dairy and agriculture.

New Legislation

Ever since the passage of the biennial budget earlier this year, I’ve kept my promise to work hard and fill in the gaps with new bills. Here’s a brief look at what I’m working on:

Eliminating the Personal Property Tax

I introduced a bill to eliminate the Personal Property Tax because Main Street businesses are the bedrock of our economy. Repealing this tax has been a bipartisan goal for years, and I’m ready to get it done so that our small businesses can save money.

Read my column about why we can’t waste any more time eliminating this burdensome tax.

“Invest in Agriculture, Grow our Future” Bill Package

I was proud to introduce the “Invest in Agriculture, Grow our Future” bill package to benefit Wisconsin’s agriculture community. This package will provide direct support to our farmers, strengthen their ties to our communities, and create new markets.

These bills ensure that farmers will continue to play an integral role in Wisconsin’s success.

COVID-19 Update

Pfizer COVID-19 Boosters Available to Certain Groups

The CDC recently endorsed Pfizer COVID-19 boosters for people 65 and older, nursing home residents, people aged 18-64 working in fields with high risk for virus exposure, and 50-64-year-olds with underlying health problems.

I encourage eligible folks who have already completed their Pfizer vaccine series to consider getting a booster shot to stay safe and healthy.

Local Guidelines

I encourage everyone to continue observing municipal safety guidelines for COVID-19. Breakthrough cases of the Delta Variant are increasing, and we want to make sure our friends and neighbors are protected.

If you’re not sure what your local health officials are advising, you can call your county health department or visit their website.
