Delicious Cheese Corner subs, platters, and wraps made with specialty meats and cheeses are back in Viroqua.

I joined a group of board members, local leaders, and cheeseheads to help kick off the grand re-opening. Thank you VARC, Inc. for bringing back this local staple!

Column: Mental Health Resources Save Lives

September was National Suicide Prevention Month and National Recovery Month, and it’s critical we take both of these issues seriously. I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to learn about the resources available to prevent suicide and promote recovery.

Chaseburg Sole Burner Celebrates Local Advocate

I was proud to help congratulate Linda DeGarmo on earning the St. George National Award from the American Cancer Society by presenting her with a legislative citation and a flag flown over the Capitol. This award recognizes outstanding community volunteers for their distinguished service to ACS.

Linda has played a key role in facilitating an incredible community of cancer survivors, family members, and advocates in Chaseburg. Using her lived experiences, Linda has benefitted so many community members going through hardships through fundraising, encouragement, and awareness.

I adjourned a recent session of the Wisconsin State Senate in her honor.

National 4-H Week

Despite the pandemic, our county 4-H programs are holding strong, and they’re celebrating the 80th National 4-H week during Oct. 3-9.

As a former 4Her myself, I can attest to the personal and professional development the organization provides. Anyone in grades K-12 can join 4-H. If you’re interested in learning more, visit 4h.extension.wisc.edu for more information.
