Sen. Smith’s Statement on Gov. Evers’ 2025 State of the State

MADISON – Governor Tony Evers delivered the 2025 State of the State Address this evening. Senator Jeff Smith (D–Brunswick) released the following statement in response to the address:

“Without fail, Governor Evers again put people before politics. The Governor’s declaration of 2025 as the year of the kid was met with silence from Republicans. If Republicans can’t stand for kids, then what will they stand for?

“The fact is that all the items laid out in the Governor’s State of the State speech tonight are only two votes shy of becoming reality. Hopefully there are two courageous Senate Republicans who will work with the Governor to accomplish these great things for Wisconsin.”
