Sen. Smith Responds to Wisconsin’s 2.8% Unemployment Rate

MADISON – On January 20th the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released preliminary data showing the state’s unemployment rate declined to a record low of 2.8 percent in December 2021. This is the lowest unemployment rate in Wisconsin state history.

Senator Jeff Smith (D-Brunswick) responded to this historic news by sharing the following statement:

“Wisconsin’s record low unemployment rate shows Governor Evers’ policies are paying off. The investments made to create good-paying jobs, strengthen Wisconsin’s workforce and support small business owners are making a real difference in our local communities.

“Governor Evers continues to move our state forward from the economic challenges brought on by the pandemic—I’m proud of the progress we’ve made and am eager to build off this momentum.”
