Hi, I’m Senator Jeff Smith checking in for the Chippewa Valley. This week we are recognizing Doctor Martin Luther King Junior. On Monday, we observed Doctor King’s birthday and we think about his legacy not just for people of color, but his message for unity as society. 

Equality for everyone means we understand our history to hope for a better future. Atrocities committed toward individuals based on race is a shameful history, but we can work toward a new history that we can be proud of. We all do better when we all do better.
