Eagle Scout Ceremony
Earlier this month, Representative Behnke and I presented Eagle Scout Citations to Gabe Fugere, Kolin Olsen, Griffin Knox, and Nathan Krouth. Congratulations to these four young men on their hard work and accomplishment.
Green Bay Fire Chief Litton
The Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs and Constitution and Federalism met earlier this month to discuss SB 374 which would recreate a specialized Urban Search and Rescue Task Force to help our first responders respond quickly to the most devastating and dangerous situations. This bill will benefit Wisconsin’s fire service as well as help keep our communities safe. It was an honor to have several Fire Chiefs from Northeast Wisconsin, including the president of the Wisconsin State Firefighters Assn. David Litton come down to testify and meet with us.
Sesquicentennial of the Great Peshtigo Fire
We had a great time seeing everyone at the Peshtigo Historical Fire Parade yesterday! It was an honor to present the city a citation in remembrance of 150 years since the fire. I was honored to present this citation to Peshtigo Mayor Cathi Malke.
Groundbreaking
Congratulations to Freedom House Ministries for the new facility groundbreaking on September 8th! Freedom House helps homeless families in our communities. Thank you, Tom Burkart for giving me a tour of the facility.
Ribbon Cutting
Congratulations to the Jackie Nitschke Center on the ribbon cutting of the Nitschke Center's Cornerstone Recovery Home for Men! Thank you for continuing to be an important resource to our community.

DOT UPDATE
US 8 construction complete in Marinette County
Project finishes on time and on budget
(Marinette County) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces completion of construction on 8.26 miles of US 8 from US 141 in the town of Pembine to Old County A Road in the town of Dunbar. The $3.97 million project began July 15, 2021 and finishes on time and on budget.
Project improvements included resurfacing of the roadway, culvert replacement, culvert lining, beamguard upgrades, erosion control, and the addition of centerline/shoulder rumble strips and grooved wet reflective pavement markings. The resurfacing provides a smoother riding surface for motorists and extend the life of the pavement. New rumble strips and grooved wet reflective pavement markings enhance safety, and culvert repair/replacement help drainage.
