Waukesha’s Andrew Pouchnik Honored by Sen. Bradley with Forward28 Award

Ironwood Builders Owner Helped Police Subdue Suspect

(Waukesha) – Andrew Pouchnik, the owner of Ironwood Builders in Waukesha, has earned Senator Julian Bradley’s (R-New Berlin) Forward28 Award, which recognizes the efforts of everyday heroes who make a local impact.

In January, Mr. Pouchnik saw a Waukesha police officer being assaulted. Without hesitation, he intervened and physically assisted the officer in restraining the suspect until backup arrived. The suspect has since been charged with multiple offenses, including battery to a law enforcement officer and felony bail jumping.

“Andrew saw a dangerous situation and stepped in to help anyway,” noted Senator Bradley. “He wasn’t trying to be a hero, but his act was heroic nonetheless – that’s why he’s earned the Forward28 Award.”

In addition to earning Senator Bradley’s recognition, Mr. Pouchnik has also earned the Waukesha Police Department’s Citizen Service Award – the highest recognition they give for civilian bravery.
