Senator Bradley: Surplus shouldn't be spent to grow government
June 8, 2021
MADISON, Wis. — State Senator Julian Bradley, R–Franklin, released the following statement Tuesday in response to a projected $4.4 billion increase in expected state tax revenues through the end of the next state budget, according to a Legislative Fiscal Bureau re-estimate:
"This surplus is money that is taken from taxpayers above and beyond what we need to pay our bills. Instead of recklessly spending these dollars on growing government and increasing dependency — as Governor Evers undoubtedly wants — we need to prioritize substantial, transformational tax relief for Wisconsin workers and small businesses.
"This extra $4.4 billion doesn't belong in the hands of politicians, but in the hands of middle-class Wisconsinites so they can invest in their futures and families."
