WI Maple Syrup Producers Association First Tree Tapping
3/18/2018This year's Annual First Tree Tapping was held at Maple Creek Sugar Bush in Barron. I was happy to join Alice in Dairlyland and Maple Creek Sugar Bush owner, Maynard Hoff to celebrate the Wisconsin Maple Syrup Industry, which is 4th in the Nation in Maple Syrup Production.

Rice Lake Library
12/6/2017Had a great visit with Katherine Elchert, Director at the Rice Lake Public Library. I was proud to join with other elected official in Wisconsin in the "Libraries Transform" campaign. Our libraries are doing an incredible job enriching the lives of citizens across northwestern Wisconsin and deserve our continued support.

Prentice Elementary Visit to the Capitol April 2017
4/21/2017For many fourth graders in southern and central Wisconsin, spring means a trip to the State Capitol as part of the required study of Wisconsin's geography, history, culture and government. I'm always pleased when I can join students from my Senate District who make the long trip to Madison.

Girls Scout Investiture
3/8/2017I was honored to join Representative Mary Felzkowski as hosts of a “Troop Meeting” at the State Capitol in honor of 105th anniversary of the founding of the Girl Scouts of America. The continued influence of Girl Scouting is evident by the strength of the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Alliance, which represents 56,000 girl members and 17,000 adult volunteers. Girls from every part of the state came to Madison to celebrate and receive awards for their accomplishments, as well as witness my colleagues and I being pinned as members of Girl Scout Legislative Troop #1912!

Friend of Housing Award
3/2/2016Senator Janet Bewley was presented with the Wisconsin Builders Association’s “Friend of Housing” Award during their Business Day gathering in Madison. This 2016 award marked the second consecutive session Bewley was honored by the Association for her support of the Building Industry.

Madeline Island Bill Signing.jpg
2/4/2016On Thursday, February 4, 2016 Governor Walker signed legislation authored by Senator Janet Bewley and Representative Beth Meyers allowing the Town of La Pointe on Madeline Island to enact shoreland zoning ordinances that are more restrictive than Ashland County’s shoreland zoning ordinances, regardless of the order of enactment. Mike Starck, Town of LaPointe Board Supervisor, joined Senator Janet Bewley, Representative Meyers and other Madeline Island residents at the State Capitol for the bill signing ceremony.

Bewley’s Bill for Retired Law Enforcement Officers Signed into Law
11/11/2015On Wednesday, November 11th Governor Walker signed legislation authored by State Senator Janet Bewley to fix an oversight in state law that prevented some qualified retired law enforcement officers from getting Concealed Carry Certification Cards. Paul Stein, of Maple Wisconsin, (far right) who brought the issue to Senator Bewley's attention, joined her at the State Capitol for the bill signing ceremony.

Veterans HistoriCorps Program
6/29/2015Janet talking with Barronett native and Marine veteran Geoff Wilson. Janet joined representatives of the Veterans HistoriCorps Program and the U.S. Forest Service’s Passport in Time program on Monday, June 29<sup>th</sup> to talk with veterans gaining skills and experience in carpentry and construction while restoring a historic building at Forest Lodge near Cable, WI. Forest Lodge is a unique 872-acre estate with 15 primary buildings, constructed in the 1920s and 1930s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is the fourth year in a row that the U.S. Forest Service has partnered with the Veterans HistoriCorps Program to assist veterans in learning valuable trade skills and preserving this historic estate so that it will remain available for generations to come.

UW-Superior Students
4/22/2015Janet joined UW Superior Students for the 12th annual "Posters in the Rotunda" at the State Capitol in Madison on April 22nd. Each year outstanding undergraduate student researchers from across the state come to the Capitol with their faculty advisors to share their research findings on a variety of fascinating and important topics.
