With Eviction Moratorium Over, Rental Assistance Grants Available for Covid-Impacted Renters

Kenosha – The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted much more than people’s health.  Business closures, both temporary and permanent, left many families struggling to make ends meet. For some renters, help is on the way.  Governor Tony Evers recently announced creation of the Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program (WRAP).  The program will provide grants of up to $3,000 for eligible renters to pay for rent and/or security deposit.

In order to qualify, renters must be able to demonstrate substantial loss of income due to Covid-19.  Additionally, eligible applicants must have a household income at or below roughly $4,060 a month in Kenosha County or $3,980 a month in Racine County in the month of application or the month prior.

The grant program will be administered locally through the Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency (RKCAA). The application process will begin in early June, but anyone interested can call the RKCAA now at (262)637-8377 to get on a list for follow up and assistance when applications become available.
