Kenosha legislative delegation statement on special interest involvement on local school board races

We are alarmed to see that a national organization with no ties to our community, Americans for Prosperity, funded by out of state billionaires with extreme views, has come into our community to try and influence our local school board elections. Schools are the heart and soul of our community, and local residents are perfectly capable of deciding how our children are educated. The involvement of out-of-state special interest groups in school board elections is unprecedented and goes against Wisconsin’s strong history of local control on matters of education.

In the Kenosha Unified district, parents and educators have a long, successful history of working directly with the school board to decide the best way to educate our children. Billionaires with ulterior political motives who don’t care about making Kenosha Unified a top school district should not be attempting to interfere with those decisions.
