Don't Forget Your ID on Election Day

The November 2016 General Election is less than a week away and the voter ID requirement will be in place to help protect your vote. Please be sure to bring your ID to your polling location this Tuesday and check the criteria below to ensure you are prepared to exercise your right to vote!

Most Wisconsinites already have a WI Driver's License, which is all you need. If you don't have an ID, getting one is free and easy. If you have questions on what IDs are acceptable, how to get a free state ID card or info for absentee voters, you can find all of those answers at www.bringitwisconsin.com.

The voter ID law is a common sense measure to help ensure integrity in our election process and holds true to our principle of one-person, one-vote. I'm very glad this measure will be in place this Tuesday, and for future elections, to protect every legal voter.

Hundreds More Jobs Coming to Southeastern Wisconsin

The good economic news just keeps rolling in with hundreds of more new jobs coming to our area. Uline announced last week that it will be adding 200 jobs in Pleasant Prairie and moving 600 jobs from Illinois to Kenosha. Uline moved its headquarters from Illinois to Pleasant Prairie in 2010, and has been growing by leaps and bounds.

This announcement comes just after two other companies announced they are also bringing jobs to the 21st Senate District. Colbert Packaging Corp., an Illinois printing and packaging company, announced last month that it will be building it's new flagship facility in Kenosha and Illinois manufacturer, Vonco Products announced last week that it will be relocating to Kenosha County. Together, the two companies will be bringing 200 jobs to our community. This is great news, and I look forward to more economic growth as Wisconsin's business friendly atmosphere brings more opportunities and helps businesses thrive.

Wanggaard Named WPPA Legislator of the Year

I was recently humbled to be named one of two "Legislators of the Year" by the Wisconsin Professional Police Association (WPPA). The award is non-partisan and legislators are scored based on their support of keeping Wisconsin communities safe.

Although I am honored to receive this distinction, I did not anticipate the recognition. Working to improve public safety, the community and the lives of those who serve our communities is what I was elected to do. That's why I am happy to see so many legislators from both parties on the WPPA honor roll, and I look forward to continuing working together to make our state a better, safer place.

Concordia Lutheran Visit

Last week, I had the honor of visiting Concordia Lutheran School in Sturtevant to speak to the students and meet the candidates for their mock election. The candidates (pictured above) were Sebastian Rivera, Jackson Kincade, Ian Voss, Korina Thomas and Kenneth Moyett. I had a great time hearing the candidates give speeches, and was very impressed by the students' public speaking skills.

It is encouraging to see young men and women learning about the election process and all of the students did a wonderful job. Congratulations to Sebastian and Korina on winning the primary, and to all the candidates for your hard work. Fine job, students!
