Cyberstalking Bill Signed into Law: 2015 WI Act 4

On Wednesday, April 8th, a bill providing protection for victims of cyberstalking was signed into law by Governor Scott Walker. I co-authored the new law with Representative Amy Loudenbeck (R-Clinton) which allows courts to issue protective orders for victims of harassment in Wisconsin even if that harassment originates from out-of-state.  Victims are often targeted through many of today’s modern communications methods harassers will often use text messages, Facebook and Twitter to target their victims thinking they are safe from the law. As of today, that is no longer the case.

Conservation Congress

Each Spring, delegates to the Conservation Congress along with the general public, meet in each of Wisconsin’s 72 counties to discuss natural resources and environmental issues.  The Conservation Congress meetings will be held statewide on Monday, April 13, 2015, starting at 7pm.

These annual meetings serve as a local avenue for input and exchange concerning conservation issues.  Individuals interested in natural resources management will have an opportunity to vote for the County Representatives to the Conservation Congress, as well as provide input by non-binding vote and testimony on proposed rule changes and advisory questions relating to fish and wildlife management in Wisconsin. Individuals have the opportunity to bring forth new conservation issues of a statewide nature to the attention of the Conservation Congress through the citizen resolution process.

The Spring Hearing rule proposals (FH-14-14 and WM-01-15) may be reviewed and comments made at
https://health.wisconsin.gov/admrules/public/Home or through the department's website at http://dnr.wi.gov/news/input/proposedrules.html no later than April 13, 2015. Written comments whether submitted electronically or by U.S. mail will be summarized for the Natural Resources Board, however, they will not be tallied along with the votes received at the county hearings.
