Right-to-Work in Wisconsin

My number one goal as a state senator is to grow the state’s economy. Right-to-work puts us in a more competitive position to expand and recruit jobs and businesses to Wisconsin. In addition, right-to-work states have twice the job growth as forced unionization states.

I’ve said many times that I am proud of my union and my former union status, and would have voluntarily joined my union if I had the option. But, I also recognize that others may not have wanted to join the union and they should not be forced to. And that’s the bottom line – no person should be forced to join a union to have a job.

On, Wednesday, February 25th I was proud to speak in support of the right-to-work legislation on the floor of the Wisconsin State Senate.  The legislation passed the Senate 17-15.  On Friday, March 6th, my colleagues in the Assembly passed the right-to-work legislation with a large majority 62-35.
The Governor will sign the right-to-work legislation- Senate Bill 44, on Monday, March 9th at Badger Meter in Brown Deer.
