Governor Walker's delivers his 2015-16 Biennial Budget

On Tuesday, February 03, 2015, Governor Walker introduced his budget for the 2015-17 biennium. The Governor’s proposal includes a UW Tuition Freeze, a $300 million cut to the UW, $220 million in bonding for the Milwaukee Bucks Arena and much more. Over the next few months the Joint Finance Committee will receive input from my colleagues and myself, as well as from the general public. In March, there will be four public hearings throughout the state allowing testimony from all Wisconsinites. Once the hearings have been scheduled, I will pass along the information. To be sure, the budget that will be brought for a vote in June will likely look much different from the proposal the Governor submitted on Tuesday.

Bring Your Legislator to Work

On January 29th, I had the opportunity to join Danyelle Smith at her job at Walgreens in Waterford as part of the "Bring Your Legislator to Work Campaign" sponsored by the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities (BPDD).

I toured the EMCO Chemical Distributors, Inc. Corporate Headquarters and state of the art Manufacturing & Distribution facility in Pleasant Prairie as part of my full day of in-district events. Kenall Manufacturing in Kenosha is a highly respected independent lighting manufacturer which provides solutions to complex lighting problems. The Kenosha facility is integrated with fabrication and finishing departments and a certified test lab, as well as a testing and assembly facility. Kenall products are manufactured in the USA. (Sen. TG3 Electronics is a 45,000 square foot facility in Kenosha. TG3 is a supplier of engineered input solutions which sell into many areas, including: medical, military, mobile data and gaming. February is "Heart Month" and as part of the American Heart Association's Wear Red for Woman Campaign I wore red to work on Wednesday, February 4th. The campaign helps to bring awareness to heart disease. |
