Public Hearing Set for Tuesday
One of the issues I talked about during the election was the full
repeal of the prevailing wage. This antiquated law from the 1930s
overcharges the taxpayers between
$200 and $300 million per year.
Each level of government from the State down to the local school
board pay an artificially inflated wage on publicly funded projects.
When the wages are inflated, the projects cost the taxpayers more
money. A recent report found a potential savings of
$38 million from school construction referenda passed last
month.
The time is now to end the special interest's stranglehold on
public projects. We need to apply free market principles to these
projects.
If you agree with me, please consider attending the public
hearing on tomorrow. If you cannot make it to Madison this week,
please reply to this email and I will make sure your thoughts are
heard by the committee.
