Dear Friends,

The budget is moving forward. Last week, all Senate Republicans met to discuss the provisions already approved by Joint Finance Committee.

In our discussions, we discussed transportation. I am committed to not raising taxes, period.

You may read media accounts that Senate Republicans are looking to borrow more. In fact, this budget -even with a slight increase to the Governor's bonding proposal - would borrow the lowest amount since the early 2000s.

Before new tax revenues can be given to the WisDOT, Secretary Ross and his team must continue to reform this bloated agency known for missing the mark when it comes to saving taxpayer resources.

On Sunday, I joined Mike Gousha on UpFront to to discuss transportation and the budget.

You may watch the video here.

Last week, I joined my family in my hometown of Cedarburg and later in Saukville for  Independence Day Parades. I also attended the Campbellsport Fireman's Picnic. I hope to see you at an area event this summer. If you notice an event is not on the upcoming events area on the right, please reply to this email.

The next parade I will be attending is this weekend in Port Washington for the annual Fish Day. Local charities tend to fish fry stands to raise money for the community during the world's largest outdoor one day fish fry. This year's theme is "Gotta Hook 'em to Cook 'em."

The parade begins at 10:00 am.

Check it out Saturday, July 15.

Northwoods Baseball - Optimized for Facebook.png

With the Brewers in first place entering the all-star break, there is much excitement for baseball in Wisconsin.

Did you know some of the best college players spend their summer near the 20th Senate District to hone their skills?

Both the Lakeshore Chinooks on Concordia's campus in Mequon and the Dock Spiders in Fond du Lac offer Northwoods League baseball. Check out more information here.

All the best,

- Duey
