The public hearings will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. Attendees will be asked to fill out a form upon arrival to be added to the queue to testify. Attendees are usually allowed a couple of minutes to testify in order to provide everyone with a chance to testify. If you decide to join us, please note that hundreds of people attend our public hearings and the queue is often quite long by mid-morning. I mention this to help you plan your day!

The State Budget public hearings are a terrific opportunity for you to share your ideas, concerns and requests with all of the members of the JFC at the same time. They are also a unique way to gain an understanding about different topics and ideas that are shared with us throughout the budget process. You might be surprised by what you hear!

If you are unable to attend in person, we invite you to submit your ideas, concerns and requests via our web portal at https://legis.wisconsin.gov/topics/budgetcomments/. All input that we receive via this website will be distributed to every member of the committee automatically.

In addition, WisconsinEye usually broadcasts the hearings live on www.wiseye.org. You may need to create an account to watch us. You can also access a number of other budget-related resources including video of the Wispolitics luncheon that Rep. Mark Born and I attended on their dedicated budget site:  https://wiseye.org/budget-2023/

As always, I invite you to connect with me directly during the State Budget process. Please email me at sen.marklein@legis.wisconsin.gov or call 608-266-0703. I want to hear from you.

No matter how you participate in the State Budget process, please know that your ideas, concerns and requests are an important part of the conversation. We are building this budget for the people of Wisconsin and your voice must be a part of the discussion. Thank you for joining us.
