Legislators Invite Governor to Sign Bill in Necedah on Veterans Day


MADISON, WI – Sen. Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) and Rep. Tony Kurtz (R-Wonewoc) sent the following (and attached) letter to the Governor inviting him to sign Senate Bill (SB) 345 in Necedah on Veterans Day.  

SB 345 designates State Highway 21 from Sparta to Oshkosh - through Necedah - as a Purple Heart Memorial Highway.  The bill was initiated by veteran Jim Starr and the Necedah Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Dear Governor Evers:
 
Senate Bill (SB) 345 was passed by the State Assembly yesterday, October 26, 2021.  It was passed by the State Senate on September 28, 2021. It is now available for your signature.
 
SB 345 designates State Highway 21 from Sparta to Oshkosh, through Necedah, as a Purple Heart Highway.  This legislation was initiated by the Necedah Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). We are honored to lead this legislation on behalf of our constituents.
 
We respectfully request your consideration, and invite you, to request SB 345 and sign this legislation in Necedah on Veterans Day. We would be honored to celebrate this important designation and honor all veterans in our community.
 
Please contact us and we will work with the veterans who led this bill with us to create a signing ceremony. If you are unable to sign the bill in Necedah on Veterans Day, we encourage you to request and sign the bill in advance of Veterans Day so that this important designation may be part of Wisconsin’s celebration and recognition this year.
