Marklein, Kurtz & Tranel Hosting Final Listening Session Monday in Richland Center

Madison, WI – Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) is hosting his final listening session in Richland Center on Monday, March 18, 2019 with 50th Assembly District Representative Tony Kurtz and 49th Assembly District Representative Travis Tranel.

All residents of the 17th Senate District are invited and encouraged to attend and testify.

Monday, March 18 with Rep. Tony Kurtz (50) & Rep. Travis Tranel (49)
10:30-11:30 a.m.         Brewer Public Library – “Story Time Room” in basement
325 N. Central Ave., Richland Center

“I hold these Listening Sessions to dedicate time in your community to listen to you,” Marklein said. “Please consider joining me to share your ideas and feedback on the State Budget.”

The format for the Listening Sessions are designed for the legislators to receive input and ideas. The legislators do not discuss the ideas, challenge the ideas or otherwise comment because they seek to hear every point-of-view equally.  The goal is for every attendee to feel comfortable sharing their input.

Depending on the number of people who attend, Sen. Marklein’s team may set a time limit for each attendee to share their thoughts (2-3 minutes) so that everyone has a chance to speak. If there are only a few people, the session may be more casual.

Constituents are welcome to attend to listen to others and submit written ideas. As always, all constituents are invited to call, email or write to the legislators at any time to share thoughts, ideas and concerns.

Constituents with personal issues that are not related to the budget process, may meet with Sen. Marklein’s staff at the Listening Session.  However, those with more complex issues are invited to call or email our team to discuss the issue privately.

In the case of inclement weather, please visit Sen. Marklein’s website, Facebook page or call the office to determine if the Session will be held.

Marklein represents the 17th Senate District, which includes all or parts Grant, Green, Iowa, Juneau, Lafayette, Monroe, Richland, Sauk and Vernon counties. Marklein serves on the legislature’s budget-writing Joint Finance Committee and is Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Revenue & Financial Institutions.
