Sen. Howard Marklein’s Statement on Governor’s Rural Broadband Expansion Grant Program Announcement
MADISON – State Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) offered the following statement regarding Governor Scott Walker’s announcement related to the Wisconsin Rural Broadband Grant Program in Dodgeville today: “Rural broadband is an issue that I have been working on diligently for the last several years. I am proud of the work of the Study Committee I chaired last summer, as well as our success in including expanded funding in the state budget. While political games delayed our action on this issue, I am grateful that rural residents will finally be able to benefit from our work. I appreciate the Governor’s announcement today that a new grant cycle has opened to distribute up to $7.5 million by next spring. We have communities that are ready to apply! As the State Senator for the 17th District, I am proud of my work on behalf of rural residents throughout Wisconsin and I look forward to a meaningful, robust investment to expand broadband to communities throughout our state.”
