Senator Marklein Receives Wisconsin Counties Association’s “Outstanding Legislator Award”

State Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) was honored recently by the Wisconsin Counties Association (WCA) with a “WCA Outstanding Legislator Award” for his work on behalf of county government during the 2015-2016 Legislative Session.

“Senator Marklein has been an incredible supporter of counties whether it is his work on sales tax exemption, fraud funding, staffing grants or probation and parole hold funding,” said WCA Executive Director Mark D. O’Connell. “Our government affairs staff has received great support this past session, and it will be felt in Wisconsin for years to come.”

The “WCA Outstanding Legislator Award” is handed out biennially to a select group of legislators who have represented county interests in both the legislature and in their districts. These legislators have demonstrated leadership for counties on key issues, legislation and the state budget.

O’Connell continued, “We commend Senator Marklein for his commitment to county issues and we are grateful to him for his vision and leadership here in Wisconsin. We are proud to present him with our ‘WCA Outstanding Legislator’ award.”

In addition, Crystal Potts and Scott Coenen of his staff were the recipients of a “WCA Outstanding Legislative Staff Award” for their work with the WCA Government Affairs staff on legislation throughout the session.

WCA represents the interests of county government both on the state and federal levels and is located in Madison, Wisconsin. For more information, visit www.wicounties.org.
