Joint Finance Committee Learns About Rural Wisconsin
Marklein proud to host public hearing at UW Platteville

MADISON – On Monday, April 3, 2017, the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee (JFC) held their first public hearing for the 2017-2018 state budget on the University of Wisconsin Platteville campus.

“I appreciate the time and effort dedicated by every resident of the 17th Senate District who took time out of their day to share their thoughts with the Joint Finance Committee today,” Marklein said. “The personal stories, passionate concerns and ideas are all helpful to us as we work to craft a budget that will be positive for all residents of the state of Wisconsin.”

Approximately 160 people testified during the hearing that began at 10 a.m. and concluded at 5 p.m.

“We heard a lot of testimony about public education, the Department of Natural Resources and funding for the University of Wisconsin system,” Marklein said. “It was important for my fellow committee members to hear about the needs of our communities.”

The next public hearing is planned for Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at State Fair Park in Milwaukee.  For a full list of public hearings: http://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2017/committees/joint/1680.
