Richland County Land Conservation Awards
Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Richland County Land Conservation Awards. These awards were honoring John and Betty Huth and Steve Stevenson. John and Betty were presented an award for “Conservation Farmer” and Steve Stephenson was presented an award for “Forestry Improvement.” Congratulations to you all and thank you for having me be a part of your celebration.

Helpful Information

Watch For Deer – All Day!
As I drive around the 17th Senate District, it is clear that the pre-rut has started. Please watch for deer crossing our roads at unusual times of the day in ways that they don’t usually move throughout the rest of the year!

The deer aren’t just grazing on the roadsides right now. They are moving erratically, usually in pursuit of scent. They are unpredictable and this is when we see an uptick in car-deer incidents on Wisconsin’s roads.

Even though I have a cousin in the auto body repair business, I don’t feel obligated to give him any more work! Stay alert and drive carefully this fall.

State Aid to School Districts: Membership & Percent of State Support
This week, the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau released the 2014-15 estimated state support for school districts. State support of each school district in Wisconsin is determined by a formula which takes into account several factors such as enrollment and property value. I have included data below that reflects the enrollment and the percent of total state support that each school district in the 17th Senate District received for the 2014-15 school year.

For the full memo, please visit the Legislative Fiscal Bureau website.
