Beloit Projects Receive Over $800,000 in State Grants

MADISON - The State Building Commission (SBC) this week met to approve grants to local construction projects across Wisconsin. The SBC directed two grants to the 45th Assembly District, which total over $800,000 in local investment, including $56,000 for the Beloit Historical Society and $750,000 to the Discovery PLAYce project at the Beloit Public Library.

State Representative Clinton Anderson (D-Beloit) and State Senator Mark Spreitzer (D-Beloit) celebrated the awards with the following statement:

“We are proud to help deliver grant funding for two important projects in our community. The Beloit Historical Society received funding to help repair its crumbling parking lot, ensuring this important part of our community’s history can continue serving as a valuable gathering and meeting place on Beloit’s west side.

“The Beloit Public Library also received a grant for its Discovery PLAYce project, which will create a wonderful space for children and families to play, learn, and explore for years to come. We recently toured the project, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on our community.”

Joining the legislators to celebrate the awards was Beloit Public Library Director Nick Dimassis:

“We can’t thank Governor Evers and the bipartisan State Building Commission enough for this vital grant for Discovery PLAYce,” said Director Dimassis. “We’re also grateful to our state legislators — Senator Mark Spreitzer and Representative Clinton Anderson — for their steadfast support. Discovery PLAYce will strengthen early literacy, support school readiness, and serve as a model for how libraries can meet the needs of young children and families in innovative ways. This grant is a tremendous investment in Beloit’s children and in the future of our community.”
