Madison – State Representative John Jagler (R-Watertown) voted today in favor of Assembly Bill 14, also known as Wisconsin Fast Forward, which would enhance workforce training programs.

 

“I believe that this legislation will have a positive impact on the job market in the 37^th district and throughout the state. Many employers in the district have told me that they have open positions they cannot fill due to a lack of qualified applicants. This bill will help connect those who are seeking employment with the necessary education and training to qualify for jobs that are right for them,” Jagler said.

 

Under the bill, the Department of Workforce Development would award grants to public and private organizations for the development and implementation of workforce training programs. This bill also requires the Department of Workforce Development to develop and maintain a labor market information system that will collect, analyze, and disseminate information on current and projected employment opportunities in Wisconsin.

 

“This bill is a step in the right direction as we work toward closing the skills gap in Wisconsin and getting those who are unemployed or underemployed back to work,” said Jagler.

 

Assembly Bill 14 passed in the State Assembly with bipartisan support. It will now head to the Wisconsin State Senate for approval.
