State Representative John Jagler (R-Watertown) released the following statement concerning today’s announcement that Governor Walker and Republican legislators will be introducing legislation to provide $100 million of property tax relief for Wisconsin taxpayers:

“This is more evidence that by making tough, but bold decisions, we are turning Wisconsin around. We eliminated a $3.6 billion deficit and transformed it into a $760 million surplus and it's time once again to return that money to you. The bill we will vote on next week, combined with cuts in the last two state budgets, will save the typical Wisconsin homeowner $680 over four years compared to the previous four year trend."

"In addition, because of significant increases in state revenue due to our state’s growing economy and prudent fiscal management we have increased the balance of the state’s rainy day fund to $280 million, the highest it has ever been."

“I am pleased the Governor called a special session, to emphasize urgency in our efforts to return this money to taxpayers this year. I look forward to finding more ways to provide tax relief for residents in our state.”
