This session Speaker Robin Vos created the Speaker’s Task Force on Adoption. The task force held meetings across the state – hearing from experts, families, parents and others impacted – looking for ways to improve the adoption system in our state. The result of these meetings were eight bills that the Assembly passed yesterday. This package of bills will remove red tape, reduce the financial burden of adoption, and increase awareness of adoption options. We hope these bills will help the nearly 1,400 children waiting to be adopted find their way into safe and loving families.
Winter Storm Damage Tips
The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance has recommended the following tips to help you stay safe this winter. Some of them included:
-Setting your furnace to a sufficient temperature to keep pipes warm.
- Remove snow from the bottom portion of your roof using a “roof rake” or push broom to help prevent ice dams.
- If your pipes burst, turn off the main water shut off or the valve to the frozen pipe.
- Keep an emergency road kit including warm clothes, blankets, fully charged cell phone, water and snacks in your car.
- Try to keep more than one-quarter of a tank of gas in your car – this can help prevent frozen fuel and allow a car to run for heat if you are delayed due to weather or an accident.
Go Packers!
If you are going to be cheering on the Packers while they take on the 49ers in the NFC Championship game this weekend, please celebrate responsibly and don’t drink and drive.
