As the Assembly moved through the budget process I heard from many of you about reducing the tax burden on Wisconsin Families. This has been my goal since I was elected to office and I am proud to say since 2011 we have reduced taxes by more than $8 billion. But these tax cuts do not mean we have cut education – in fact, we’re making the largest investment in K-12 education in our state’s history. We increased funding for the UW system by $34 million.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s latest rankings, Wisconsin has greatly improved its ranking for state and local tax burdens. Wisconsin now has its best tax ranking in more than 50 years.
Of course there is still work to be done, but I am proud to be part of a legislature that is so committed to moving our state forward!
