Legislation Update

Yesterday the Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety held public hearings for three OWI related bills, including one I am the lead co-sponsor of. The testimony on these bills was emotional, and I will keep you updated as these bills move through the legislative process.

Assembly Bill 97: Mandatory period of confinement for homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and providing a criminal penalty.
Assembly Bill 98: Court orders regarding the installation of an ignition interlock device and providing a criminal penalty.
Assembly Bill 99: committing a fifth or sixth offense related to operating a vehicle while intoxicated and providing a criminal penalty.

Wednesday there will be a public hearing on a bill I authored, Assembly Bill 163. This bill would make November 11th, Veterans Day, a recognized state holiday. Some constituents have already contacted me about testifying, and I look forward to seeing you at the hearing!
