State Senator Mary Felzkowski

Biography

State Senator Mary Felzkowski was elected to the Wisconsin State Senate in 2020. She was first elected to the Legislature in 2012 and served in the State Assembly from 2012 to 2020. She has served as Senate President since January of 2025.

A lifelong resident of Lincoln County, Mary is the owner of C.I.S. Insurance Group. She is a graduate of Tomahawk High School and earned her Bachelor's degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls.  Mary has two children, two step-children, and three grandchildren. Throughout her life, she has served on various boards, both local and national. She is a lifetime member of the NRA.
 
Mary comes from a family of independent business owners.  Her father, Edward Behling, owned and operated Tomahawk Tree Farm and Behling Insurance.  Mary’s grandmother, Dolly Roberts, and mother, June Behling, operated the Bowling Alley Grill and founded June’s Delicatessen in the Nokomis area.  Her uncles, Richard and Gerald Roberts, founded Roberts Berry Farm.

During her time in the Legislature, Mary has chaired many committees including forestry, small business, and state-tribal relations. She has also served on the Joint Finance Committee, which crafts the state budget, for 4 terms. In her current role as Senate President, Mary oversees all activities on the Senate floor, including debate and votes, and serves as a leader for the entire Senate.
