Sen. Nass Calls for Floor Votes Next Week on all Senate Election Reform Bills

Senator Steve Nass (R-Whitewater) issued the following statement today regarding unacceptable delays in the State Senate in advancing eight election reform bills (SB 203, SB 204, SB 205, SB 206, SB 209, SB 211, SB 212 and SB 214) introduced on March 16, 2021 and referred that day to the Senate Elections, Election Process Reform and Ethics Committee.

The State Senate is scheduled to be in floor session for only one week in May (May 11-13). Currently, there are no election reform bills scheduled for a floor vote.  Senator Nass called on Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu and Senate President Chris Kapenga to end the unacceptable stalling of the committee chair in advancing these reform bills:

“As the Senate Majority Leader and Senate President, you were elected by the Senate Republican Caucus to lead this body in meeting the many challenges facing our constituents and to further advance the conservative agenda supported by the voters in this state through the election of 21 Republicans in a chamber with 33 members.
The Wisconsin State Senate is scheduled to be in session one week during the month of May (May 11-13).  As of today, all of the significant election reform bills are stalled in the Senate Elections, Election Process Reform and Ethics Committee.  The authors of these bills have been working to get these bills out of committee for weeks, but have been met with resistance to action by the committee chair.
Today, I am calling on the Republican leadership of the Senate to act boldly and immediately, to schedule a floor day next week solely for the purpose of taking up all the election reform bills – No more delays and No more excuses.”
