Below is a letter I sent this morning to fellow legislators as we work to complete the 2021-2023 biennial budget. I am fighting to preserve the current UW System resident tuition freeze.
Dear Republican Legislators:
As we consider the UW System and the 2021-23 biennial budget, I have heard a few legislators say the campuses of the UW System have had less issues than previous years. FALSE!
I had my staff this morning put together a list of articles (links below) about serious issues of waste, mismanagement and runaway liberalism on the campuses of the UW System from just two media sources (Madison.com and Campus Reform). There are more media sources and articles yet to be added to this list which only goes back to May 2020.
The bottom-line for Republicans on the UW-System and the 2021-23 biennial budget:
-The UW System has money to give former top-level administrators little-work golden parachutes. The Republican legislative response is to potentially end the resident tuition freeze. This makes sense – there are so many administrators that need pricey sweetheart deals funded.
-The UW System has flawed bidding processes that cost taxpayers and students more money for procurement and building projects. The Republican legislative response is to potentially end the resident tuition freeze. This makes sense – with so many campuses we can’t expect highly paid administrators to worry about waste, mismanagement and ethical concerns in issuing bid awards. They are too busy lining-up their little-work golden parachutes.
-The UW System has plenty of faculty, staff and administrators with a mission to silence conservative views on campus, mandate critical race theory in all facets of campus life and create more socialist justice warriors through indoctrination of students. The Republican legislative response is to potentially end the resident tuition freeze and to give the UW system more taxpayer dollars. This makes sense – we need to throw more funding into a system with so many liberals working on destroying the American Dream.
