Senate Committee Vote on Appointment of Secretary-Designee Craig Thompson

      Senator Steve Nass (R-Whitewater) issued the following statement after today’s Senate committee vote to recommend the confirmation of Department of Transportation Secretary-Designee Craig Thompson:

“Secretary-Designee Craig Thompson has already proven that he prioritizes the powerful road building special interests over the taxpayers and good government.  Mr. Thompson has no stomach for enacting cost saving reforms within the Department of Transportation.  He supports unlimited increases in transportation fees and the Wisconsin gasoline tax.  Any senator that votes in support of this appointment should be held accountable by the taxpayers.

Even worse was the inappropriate statement by the Republican committee chairman referring to opponents of Thompson as ‘sniping.’  Today’s vote is further proof that too many Republican legislators are willing to aid-and-abet the extreme tax-and-spend policies of Governor Evers.”
