UW System Autonomy - "Bad for Wisconsin"

Senator Nass:  System hasn't earned the trust necessary to roll the dice on autonomy.

Senator Steve Nass (R-Whitewater) responded to the UW System presentation to the Joint Finance Committee on the 2015-2017 Biennial Budget.  The System pleaded their case in support of the public authority model and their desire to raise tuition in the future, while pushing back against the $300 million GPR funding reduction.

"I am adamantly opposed to the public authority model for the UW System.  We have heard plenty of promises from System officials, but there has been a lack of concrete actions to control costs for students and taxpayers.  I simply don't trust UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank to protect the interests of Wisconsin families," Nass said.
