Governor Evers’ – Safer at Home Order

(Emergency Order #12)

I wanted to quickly share with you the “Safer at Home Order” issued by Governor Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) in response to Covid-19.  The order takes effect at 8:00 a.m., on Wednesday March 25, 2020 and will remain in effect until 8:00 a.m., on April 24, 2020.

Attached is a copy of the Safer at Home Order for your review.  While it contains new more restrictive provisions for business and nonprofit operations, the new emergency order has a very broad list of exemptions for Essential Services and Businesses.  Under the order, those businesses that are deemed essential are encouraged to remain operational during this crisis.

It also has exemptions for non-essential businesses and services to take certain activities to maintain basic business operations.

Finally, the order contains an appeal process for non-essential businesses and services that believe they should be included under the broader definition of Essential Services and Businesses.  That process will be administered by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).  More information at this process may be found at: www.wedc.org/essentialbusiness
