Democrats Attempts to Impeach the President

State Senator Steve Nass (R-Whitewater) issued the following press statement in response to the announcement by Speaker Nancy Pelosi that House Democrats will be moving forward with Articles of Impeachment against President Donald Trump:

“Today, one national party has decided to abuse the constitutional powers granted to Congress to achieve a self-serving and ruthless goal of removing a President from office through impeachment without proof of ‘treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors’ as the U.S. Constitution dictates.
Sadly, the people of this state lived through a similarly corrupt attempt by Wisconsin Democrats and their liberal allies to remove Governor Scott Walker.  They utilized a recall election, the illegal activities of liberal-leaning government officials at the now closed Government Accountability Board (GAB), and the scandalous use of John Doe investigatory powers to target conservatives and Republicans.
Good and decent citizens will rise and resist these vile efforts to effectuate a political coup of the President.  The individuals, organizations and allies of those responsible must be held to account.
That accountability must occur at the local, state and national levels.”
