Legislative Democrats Roll Out Fall Priorities
Forward Together plan focuses on the most pressing issues facing Wisconsin

MADISON – Today, Legislative Democrats rolled out their fall priorities plan, Forward Together. As the legislature moves into the fall floor period, there are many issue areas Democrats will be focused on to improve the lives of everyday Wisconsinites. The plans were announced at press conferences across the state. Senator Smith (D-31), Senator Schachtner (D-10), and Representative Emerson (D-91) released the following statement in support of this plan:

“As elected officials, we have a duty to represent the interests of all Wisconsinites. After traveling throughout western Wisconsin and hearing from constituents, one thing is clear: the people’s priorities have not changed. Democrats remain committed to fighting for healthcare access and affordability, especially in rural communities; protecting our natural resources and supporting our family farms. As we move forward during this legislative session, we have the opportunity to collaborate on solutions to address the challenges Wisconsinites face. I’m hopeful the Republicans can put politics aside and work with Democrats to prioritize the will of the Wisconsin people,” said Sen. Smith

“We have a lot of ground to make up from the years of inaction we’ve seen, but my colleagues and Governor Evers are up for that challenge because Wisconsinites can’t wait. I ran for State Senate because I am committed to listening to, collaborating with, and fighting for the people of Northwestern Wisconsin, said Senator Patty Schachtner. “Last November, the people of Wisconsin voted for providing mental healthcare, preventing substance abuse, and supporting family farmers - not giving up on them. Politics needs to step aside and solutions need to move forward and that’s exactly what we’re fighting for,” said Sen. Schachtner.

“This plan addresses the everyday challenges facing our state and the 91st Assembly District. I serve in the Assembly to improve Wisconsin’s health care, public schools, and to build an economy that works for everyone. Democrats are committed to making the needed investments to do those things, and with six months left in the legislative session, we have time to get it done. While Republicans sit on their hands, Democrats stand with Gov. Evers and are ready to deliver accessible health care, world class educations, and an inclusive economy,” said Rep. Emerson.
