About Me

Patty Schachtner is serving her first term in the Wisconsin State Senate following a special election win in January 2018. Patty was born in Somerset, Wisconsin, and was raised on a St. Croix County farm. She is a lifelong resident of western Wisconsin.

Patty, in addition to her job as state senator, serves as the chief medical examiner for St. Croix County. Patty has previously served as a school board member, EMT, supervisor for the Star Prairie township, and EMT instructor at the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, where she received her EMT certification. In the community, Patty serves on the board of directors for Turning Point Wisconsin, a center for victims of sexual and domestic violence, and on the board of her local food pantry. She is a co-founder of the Suicide Prevention Task Force of St. Croix County and former director of the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce. Patty is a member of ABATE, Rotary Club of New Richmond, and the Wisconsin Coroner and Medical Examiner’s Association. Patty was the former president of the Championship Pulling Series, a tractor and truck pulling organization, and previously affiliated with the Western Saddle Club Association, St. Anne’s Parent Group, and St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice.

Patty, and her husband of 40 years, Joe, have six children and twelve grandchildren. They reside in Somerset, Wisconsin.
