New Revenue Projections Show Wisconsin on Solid Ground
Madison - On Wednesday, State Senator Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) and State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette), the Co-Chairs of the budget-writing Joint Finance Committee, released the following statement regarding recently released revenue projections:
"Wisconsin is on solid ground. The data released by the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau shows that we can expect nearly $455 million more than what was projected late last year.
The new estimate also shows our general fund's net balance is over $362 million. This is $322.4 million above what was projected in the previous report.
This re-estimate proves that our reforms are working; the state is spending less on burdensome regulation while holding the line on taxes for Wisconsinites across the state. While the improved revenue numbers are encouraging, we know there is more work to be done. As we head into the 2017-19 state budget process, we will continue on the same path and employ prudent fiscal planning to ensure Wisconsin continues to prosper and succeed."
