Statement from Senator Chris Larson on the State of the State
MADISON – Today, Senator Chris Larson offered the following comments regarding the governor’s State of the State address.
“Governor Walker has made it clear, time and time again, that he places his own ambitions over ensuring prosperity for our Wisconsin neighbors. Tonight, it was apparent the governor fears that Wisconsin is rejecting his failed policies as fast as the rest of the nation rejected his presidential ambitions. Now, Walker is scrambling to appeal to the people he has failed.
“At a time when our state has the fastest shrinking middle class in the nation, Wisconsinites are not fooled by Walker’s irresponsible leadership or his legacy of opening the floodgates for political corruption, collusion, and corporate cash. Our neighbors are tired of watching this Walker rerun that chooses campaigns over classrooms, highways over high schools, and borrowing over Bucky. In fact, it appears that legislative Republicans are introducing Democratic proposals to fix the mess created by the governor and GOP leaders.
“Legislative Democrats continue to listen to the concerns of our neighbors and have offered a clear vision for Wisconsin that would invest in educational opportunities, address the burden of student debt, and ensure family-supporting wages for our hard working neighbors. Wisconsin must again prioritize good jobs, clean air, drinkable water, transparent government, and affordable health care.”
