STATEMENT FROM SENATOR CHRIS LARSON ON SECRETARY WALL’S RESIGNATION
MADISON – Senator Chris Larson issued the following statement regarding the resignation of Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary Ed Wall.
“After serious and disturbing information regarding abuse at the Lincoln Hills School for Boys and Copper Lake School for Girls have been revealed, Secretary Ed Wall resigned amid a federal investigation.
“How many people under this administration need to resign in disgrace in order to cover up the Walker’s culture of corruption? This another graphic example of the governor’s failure, and it is unacceptable that our Wisconsin youth were mistreated and that the safety of our children and DOC staff were grossly jeopardized. It even appears that the governor’s office knew of the abuse that was occurring in our correctional facilities since 2012. Walker’s hands are stained by yet another scandal.
“It clear abundantly clear that we need to remove our youth from the detention centers and place them in a safe environment immediately. The failure by Governor Walker to ensure safety within our correctional institutions must come to an end. I call on the governor to address these problems before more of our children are mistreated.”
