Statement from Senator Chris Larson on Senate Republican’s Education Bill
GOP bill fails to make the grade
MADISON – Senator Chris Larson (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement on the education proposal released by Senate Republicans today.
“Four years ago, the Republicans created a values deficit when they cut $1.8 billion from our community schools - the single largest cut to education in our state’s history,” said Larson. “Unfortunately, the bill released by Senate Republicans this afternoon does nothing to address the deficit.”
“I believe investing in our children should be our state’s top priority. By failing to restore the cuts made to our neighborhood schools, we are failing to restore faith in our children’s future – bottom line. To that end, my Democratic colleagues and I will continue to keep fighting to ensure all kids have equal access to a great education so they can obtain the knowledge and skills they need to pursue the American Dream.”
