WISCONSIN GOP STILL FAILING OUR WORKERS AND COMMUNITIES
FEDERAL BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS FIGURES DETAIL CONTINUING FAILURES ON JOBS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR COMMUNITIES

MADISON – Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages figures released by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics display the continued failure of Gov. Walker and legislative Republicans to create family-supporting jobs for communities across Wisconsin.  The numbers show that Wisconsin continues to significantly lag the rest of the nation in job growth under Scott Walker and legislative Republicans, floundering at 37th in private sector jobs across the country in the latest 12 month period.

Senate Democratic Leader Chris Larson issued the following statement regarding the release of these figures:

“The bottom line is that Wisconsin is failing to create jobs within our communities because Gov. Walker and legislative Republicans have been more focused on saving their own jobs by rewarding campaign donors with special favors.  This troubling pattern of self-serving, abusive actions illustrates a culture of corruption that’s causing us to lose ground to the rest of the nation and fail to live up to our own proud past standards.

“While Republicans are failing our state by their utter lack of focus on creating opportunities for workers, my Democratic colleagues and I remain fully committed to creating the family-supporting jobs needed to ensure greater opportunities and freedom for our communities.  Wisconsin could once again be seen as a beacon for shared prosperity and responsibility across the nation if our Republican colleagues join us in these common-sense efforts.”
