Tests Reveal Voucher Schools Still Lag Public Schools Across Wisconsin
After 24 years of funding unaccountable voucher schools, students still at a disadvantage

MADISON – Senate Democratic Leader Chris Larson issued the following statement regarding the release of WCKE test scores showing that our neighborhood, public schools are still doing a better job of educating the next generation of Wisconsin profit creators than those in the underperforming voucher program.

"Shining a light on the education provided at voucher-funded schools, Wisconsin parents can now see how voucher schools stack up next to their traditional, public school counterparts," said Senate Democratic Leader Larson.

"And as we expected, the extended lack of oversight has led to troubling results.

"The data says it all: education investments would be better spent in our neighborhood, public schools than wasted in voucher classrooms. When half of our neighborhood public schools are receiving even less now than under the previous budget, but failing voucher schools are continuing to collect millions, our priorities are misplaced.

"We should be investing in our neighborhood public schools that provide the next generation of Wisconsin workers with a better education than the unaccountable, irresponsible voucher schools."
