Senate Democrats Call for Governor to Veto Racist Mascot Bill
Senate Democrats Release Letter to Governor Requesting his Veto of the Racist Mascot Bill

MADISON – Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chris Larson and every member of the Senate Democratic Caucus released a letter sent to Governor Scott Walker calling for his veto of the race-based mascot bill. Following the governor's cancellation of his weekly meeting with Democratic legislative leaders, where Senator Larson planned to present the letter, it was delivered to the governor's office.

"My Senate colleagues and I are calling on Governor Walker to veto the race-based mascot legislation waiting on his desk," said Senate Democratic Leader Chris Larson. "Changing current state law that was created in good faith by Wisconsin Tribal Leaders, educators and legislators over a period of 20 years at the will of one party, without support from Tribal Leaders or educators is regressive and harmful to Wisconsin's children. It is our hope that the governor addresses this legislation with the same level of community input he's taking with other issues directly affecting Wisconsin's Tribal community."

The letter, signed by all Democratic senators can be found here.
