Walker Silent on Signing of Bill that Hurts our Heroes
Despite Opposition from Wisconsin Veterans and Families, Governor Signs Bill Limiting Justice for Veterans
MADISON – Today, at a private ceremony, without public notice, Governor Walker ignored the requests of thousands of Wisconsin veterans and signed legislation that attacks their right to obtain justice in court.
"Governor Walker's actions show he was well aware this bill hurts Wisconsin's heroes," said Senate Democratic Leader Chris Larson. "Hiding behind closed-doors, Governor Walker ignored the pleas of thousands of Wisconsin veterans who put their lives on the line for our nation's freedom. A chorus of hundreds of Wisconsin citizens and 27 legislators called on Governor Walker to veto this legislation through the www.vetoforveterans.com petition, but he did not listen. The only response he gave was to sign this anti-veteran legislation out the public light and without notice. It's clear Governor Walker knows this legislation has detrimental effects on Wisconsin's heroes and their families."
"Today, Governor Walker put corporate profits and his own party's will ahead of our freedoms."
