Statement of Senate Democratic Leader Chris Larson on Walker Administration Decision to Limit Access to Birth Control
Act of Political Intrusion Limits Our Access to Health Care Security
MADISON – Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chris Larson released the following statement regarding the Walker administration’s announcement that they will no longer enforce Wisconsin’s birth control coverage law:
“Unfortunately, following a disturbing pattern of political intrusion into very personal decisions, the Walker administration brazenly chose to limit the health care freedom of Wisconsin women and communities by unnecessarily restricting access to birth control.
“Ensuring affordable access to vital health care coverage that 99% of women rely on at some point in their lives is something everyone, regardless of age, gender, or even political party, should be able support.
“Women have the right to make personal decisions regarding their health and livelihood, and nothing – especially politicians or corporations – should be able to interfere with this basic freedom.”
