Statement on Tax Day
MADISON – The following is a statement of Senate Democratic Leader Chris Larson on tax day.
“Today, all Wisconsinites contribute to our shared success, but some contribute more than others.
“The last budget raised taxes on Wisconsin’s working families and elderly by the reduction of the Homestead Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit. These two tax credits provided a much needed break for those trying to enter the middle class, and the elderly trying to remain in their homes. While Wisconsin’s working families pay more, those at the top were not asked to share in the budgetary sacrifice.
“As Wisconsin tries to emerge from the current stagnant economy, we must build a tax code that puts Wisconsin’s working families, small businesses and individuals on a level playing field with large corporations.”
