Statement on Governor’s Tax Cut Vetoes
MADISON — In reaction to Governor Evers’ disappointing vetoes of most of the recent Republican middle class tax cut package, Sen. Rob Hutton (R-Brookfield) issued the following statement:
“The governor’s vetoes are a missed opportunity to provide meaningful relief for Wisconsin retirees, income tax payers and married couples. With the cost of basics like gas and groceries significantly higher than just a couple years ago, Wisconsin citizens need a break now more than ever. Unfortunately, Governor Evers disagrees.
“When crafting our tax cut bills, the Republican legislature adopted Governor Evers’ own definition of middle class in the hopes he would actually sign all four bills into law. We believe that we should send our state’s surplus back to the taxpayers, not let it sit in a vault in Madison. Unfortunately, Governor Evers disagrees.
